IMANI wins BEST FILM in Canada at “Vues D’Afrique Film Festival”

IMANI wins again. This is our ninth international award to date in the second year of the festival circuit.

IMANI won the OIF (Organisation internationale de la francophonie) prize for the best full-length film at the prestigious African Film festival in Montréal,  Canada called “Vues D’Afrigue” that ran in April and May 2011.

IMANI – Theatrical Release a success in South Africa 2011

IMANI was recently screened  as part of a Zanzibar Film Festival in
Johannesburg at the Bioscope cinema , an  independent and very
progressive cinema , and of all the films screened, Imani was the most
popular.  The Bioscope would like to rescreen the fllm at the end of May.

IMANI Wins her 8th award for the year at the 34th Cairo International Film Festival 2010

IMANI wins THE SILVER AWARD at the prestigious Cairo International Film Festival 2010 last night. 

As one of 17 films selected for the “International Digital Feature Film’s Competition” the judges awarded IMANI the SILVER AWARD. 

“Imani” vibrantly captures three vignettes of life in modern day Uganda: A child soldier returning to the parents who could not protect him, a woman fighting to get her wrongly accused sister out of jail, and a youth dance troop leader struggling to simply get through a hometown performance. 

Presiding over the winning decision is Bassek Ba Kobhio (director, Cameroon), George Papalios (president, Greek Film Center), Agnes Kocsis (director, Hungary), Celina Jaitley (actress, India), Najwa Najar (writer/director, Palestine), Nelly Karim (actress, Egypt) and Saadet Isil Aksoy (actress, Turkey).

IMANI wins 7th International Award – Poland October 2010

Imani has just won our 7th award the top award of  THE CRITICS AWARD FOR THE BEST FEATURE FILM at the African Film Festival AfryKamera in Poland. www.afrykamera.pl

Jury: Jan Topolski – film critics working with the “Cinema” and the Association “New Horizons”, Anna Kilian – film critic, journalist, “Zycie Warszawy” and “Rzeczpospolita” Bart reek – PhD student at Warsaw University afrykanistyki; decided that the Critics Award for best feature film is awarded to ”Imani,” directed by Caroline Kama (Uganda, 2010). In support of the jury wrote: “the ability to present complex realities of the historical, social country in the condensed time being taken to attempt to settle the past and dealt with, inter alia, describing the problems of the country and women in society.”

IMANI WINS AGAIN – DIFF Durban International Film Festival

IMANI wins for the sixth time this year. “Special Jury Mention” Prize at the Durban International Film Festival 2010. IMANI was the only film from Africa outside S.A to be nominated as a competition film and has now been awarded.

IMANI WINS 2 MORE AWARDS – TARIFA SPAIN

IMANI won two awards of the 7th edition of Tarifa African Film Festival.

“Best Full Length Feature Film Director” for Director Caroline Kamya and her film IMANI. For its freshness and subtlety, which manifests the capacity of the new generation of African filmmakers to express their vision of the world.

“Best Actress in Full Length Feature” for lead actress Rehema Nanfuka. For her gentle and congenial interpretation of a woman trapped in a difficult life situation.

IMANI WINS TOP HONORS AT THE AFRICAN MOVIE ACADEMY AWARDS

IMANI WON NOT 1 BUT 2 AWARDS AT THE AMMAS ON THE 10TH OF APRIL 2010

The prestigious African Movie Academy Awards were held in Nigeria on the 1oth of April 2010 over the weekend. Director of IMANI Caroline Kamya and lead actress Reheman Nanfuka were invited to attend as nominees. 

The redcarpet event was attended by the top african movie elite and African Americal Hollywood actors CCH Pounder of “The Sheild and the Xfiles” and Gynn Turman most famous for “The Wire”.

IMANI won top honours for an african language film “BEST FILM” and Most Promising Actress for Rehema Nanfuka.
